Good Range Day

Finally got to the range today, its been months. I brought along my P95PR and 200 rounds, to include: wwb 115gr fmj, federal 115gr fmj, rem 115gr hp and rem 124 +p golden sabre hp. I carry the 124s in the winter and the 115 hps in warmer months.

It was a beautiful day, light breeze, full range of people, which I like, its fun to see how others are doing and what they are shooting.

I was next to a guy with a Glock 19 who was doing ok but my groups were much tighter, I had to grin with my P95 in hand and he with his less than "perfection." lol...just playing with the glock fans!

The range master mildly chided me for kicking my empties out of the way on the ground so I wouldn't trip while firing. No big deal, but I always clean them up after I finish for the day. He was a cool guy, no problem there.

No failures whatsoever, and as usual, the good ol' Ruger was a joy to shoot.

This range used to just be a range and only sold some basic ammo, but now they have a much better selection and were also selling handguns as well. They had some nice used and new pistols from a variety of reputable manufacturers.

It was great to punch some centers out of multiple targets with a gun in which I feel so very confident. Oh by the way, this was at 7 yards so nothing really too impressive.

The range can be so meditative, I had a great time.

Anyone else have a good day shooting today?

Went to the range today with a bunch of my friend who now live out of town but were back for a visit. We shot mostly 9mm (Beretta, Browning, Cz 75, Xd) as well as a Sig Sauer 229 in .40, a couple of 38 snubbies and two Ruger .22 pistols. We also shot a Makarov and a compact XD in 40. All and all a good day. The only problem is that now I will be cleaning guns for a week. :)

That would not be the range at Johnson County Park ( Camp Atterbury)? I have spent many a day there long ago, used to be very primitive and free. My Dad still lives in Greenwood and JCP is only about 25-30 min from his house, thought it had closed. Many of the public ranges have been redone, it's like shooting in a parking garage... Loud.

Hey Jed,
Yup, sure was Camp Atterbury. They have the place in really great shape. It's an outdoor range now, if it wasn't before, and has all the bells and whistles. They just got new management and are quite professional. I think it was 7 dollars to shoot for one hour and the ammo was reasonably priced. Though its an hour away for me, it gives me the chance to smoke 2 cigars :)

Used to be some posts and a tin roof over the firing line with a 25, 50 and 100 yard ranges. No ROs, no concrete just sign a roster, that is where I fired my first handgun, the first pistol I ever bought. I heard the contractor went under and it had closed, good to hear it is open. I may stop in after my visit with my dad this Friday.
