I have a vague recollection of a court case where a person was trying to join or perhaps start a state militia. When told the only organized militia was the federal National Guard the court ruled the state did have that right and the people the right to join one.

All I seem to be able to find is Presser v Illinois. If anyone can help I promise to refrain from Dick the Butcher jokes for a reasonable period of time. Thank you.
