I saw a Smith 629 on consignment at my local indoor range, and after nearly going crazy with indecisiveness I bought it. It is a 8-3/8 inch barrel, with the adjustable rear sight and wood grips. I just like big shiny revolvers, so I figured I should get it. I've always wanted one, and I am leaving home for school (gunsmithing school) in a couple of weeks. Technically this is a mandatory purchase, as I will have to learn how a Smith works as part of my education. I still need to buy 4 or 5 more pistols after this one.
Now I just have to "cool off" for 240 hours, and get over the fact that everything in the SF Bay Area costs a good 20 percent more than it should...
