I went to the gunshow today and got rid of my Chicom SKS with the intention of helping to fund a new CZ 452 purchase, but unfortunately there were only two at the entire show, both of them scouts. So onward I went browsing the tables until I found a very nice Russian SKS for $220.00! Compared to the rest of the prices there this one was a great deal (plus it was a private sale). Chinese were going $250plus for a ratty one.

Anyway..after a little researching when I got home I found out it is a Russian 1954 TULA . The black bolt and markings on the stock and reciever indicate that it is a rearsenaled rifle. The bore is also in extremely good condition with sharp rifling. It looks as though they may have replaced it with a new one. The stock looks like a refit as it has an XXXX'd out number with the correct number stamped and then varnished over. The rest of the rifle has all of the serial #'s matching completely with no lineouts or discrepancies. On the right side there is the importer stamp CDI SWAN VT as well as CCP04429 stamped on it. I'm not sure what that code means because it does not match the original rifle serial numbers and lookes like it was put on by the importer. The "MADE IN RUSSIA" stamp is also the same looking. The bayonnet also looks as though it was a polished metal and not the "frosted" look of the Yugo SKSs.

I would honestly rate her as VG condition with minimal wear.

I've never heard of CDI. Are they still in business?

That price is a steal. I saw a beat-up Chinese SKS at a gunshow yesterday for $210; a beat-up Russian at a local gunshop was going for $425.

I agree..I had several folks attempt to buy it from me. :D

These pics are a bit better.

Ben...were you at the Pensacola show this weekend? We might have crossed paths. Too bad we didn't get to meet. Actuallly if you saw a short stocky guy with 4 kids and a wife about 11AM Saturday then you saw me. :D

Anyway..I did see a nice Arsenal milled reciever AK for $300. I almost picked that one up as well but ended up buying a Glock 26 from the same table for $450 out the door.

If you come to the Panama City show later in the year just give me a hollar. Heck if you want to come shoot down this way just let me know. I'm a member over at the Gulf Rifle Club. 300 yard range with no range officers, so its a pretty comfortable environment.

Actually, my wife and I were both there around 12:00, with our 2 kids in the double stroller. I picked up an extra mag for my SAR while I was at it, and a couple of boxes of Wolf 122-gr JHP for my wife's SKS. I was looking for an AK-47 manual, but didn't see one.

Did you see the Russian Mosin-Nagant M44's for $49? I already have an M44, but if money weren't so tight this month I'd have picked up another one at that price.

My wife has a Glock 26 (stock except for tritium sights) and loves it. That's not a bad price.

I'd love to shoot at a 300-yard range one of these days. (ERML range here where I shoot is only ~120 yards to the longest backstop.) I'll pm you whenever I get a free weekend. Lots going on right now, though.

Yep. I was sorely tempted to get one and I probably should have. Oh well, I think there is another show here in Panama City the weekend of the 16-17 . I'll find out for sure today. This one will be put on by the Alabama folks and not Southern Classic.

I wanted a 91-30 something bad and he had some nice ones for $100, but I wanted a Hex reciever. Bummer.
