I have a half dozen or so of those eyepieces -- but no box! As I recall, they were made by Butler Creek (but I could be wrong.) I usually hunt with one in my pocket. When sitting still, I put it on when light conditions call for it.

Whitman;

I believe I've seen them in the Natchez cataloge. Dvorak is the name of the company. Soft front lens hoods run under $15.00 & the soft eyepiece is the same.

What are you looking at?

Everyone I know glasses with binoculars, and the rifle scope only comes into play when the game is spotted.

No shooting Bambi here..thats too easy. I shoot 500 Meters to 1K yards all the time...I constantly spot thru the scope, and also Dryfire Practice.

It is obvious you guys are just looking to outfit a hunting scope and put no rangetime on it. But Dont lump all your scope theories that way....

Heres the glass I use:

Most of the hunters I know wouldn't dream of hunting at all without putting in the range time to determine their individual capabilities and those of their equipment and would not consider a shot at an animal unless they are sure of putting it down cleanly. I'm glad you enjoy the 500-1000 yard shooting. I'm sure I would too but time and distance restrictions to a close range have prevented it so far. The "obvious" isn't always what you think.

Datruth:

Me thinks your thread was sorta hijacked. You want to know:

" this is the set up i decided on, am I one target ? "

I think you are on target, with the correct rings of course.

thanks mike, I m glad i made good choices in parts and glass

well what type of ammo do you all use to shoot at 500-1000 yards, im just using reimington soft point 150grainers,to get ready for "shooting bambi" and all his closest relatives, but not at those ranges, is it handloads or factory match type ammo?

im putting in the time trust me

I love shooting and i truly will be completly prepared before i try to take a shot at any animal without being able to make a clean and humane kill:)

How many rounds do you shoot before you decide you're ready to go out??( I honestly don't know, genuinely interested)

Like the guys I see out at the range, most likely a box or two...

I use my own handloads for my shooting. 190 Berger VLD's stay supersonic out to 1K. Usually 150 rounds or so each time I go out...Between trips it is then Dryfire practice at home.

this is my first time shooting and buying a bolt action

yes, i have only shot one box through it and my time shooting a bolt action, the first three shots were just right of the 1inch mark on the target and were shot at 50 yards and when i moved to 100yards things went astray. I think it was a combination of trigger jerk, flinching and and lack of concentration but i was impressed with my initial three shot group it was within a half a dollar at 50 yards but i woulld like this group at 100 yards if that is realistic or somewhere close before i hunt, this would be my first time hunting with a bolt action rifle, and i am getting use to the rifle and the 30-06 round, so i want to make sure i am truly as prepared as possible, im learning everybody was green at one point, i guess when my groups are a lot tighter, i would consider myself ready

I refuse to settle for marginal equipment....

And I'm a fussy shopper. What has worked for Me has been the Bushnells and the Nikon Monarch. Never had a problem with either. Essex

datruth,
Please do give us a range report and pictures when you can. I'd love to hear how it turns out for you. Regards.
