Wife and son bought this for me and I set it up looking down my powerline cut over, time to fill the freezer

That power pole is 125 yards away and I have a mineral block at about 100 yards, have a good clear view and the ridge line at the end of the cut acts as a bullet stop

Good luck this year. Those are the type of blinds that I use. Currently have two of them. One's been up since early this year after a wind storm dropped a large dead tree on the previous 6 year old one. That one's an Ameristep Doghouse blind, and I also have a similar one that I have to set up real soon. That one's made by some outfit called Duke & Boone. IMG_7173.JPG . No experience with them but it was on sale earlier this summer. As of this year I'll have 7 years experience with the two different Ameristep blinds and it'll be my first go-round with the Duke & Boone one in the previous picture. Here's the new Doghouse blind that reminds me of yours. Taken back in early May when things are just starting to green up. IMG_4615.JPG .. Older I get, the less I like that tree stand and ladder stand stuff, even though I still have a ladder stand.

After a few trial runs at my permanent blind...I am finally here with my xbow and archery permits.

I tell you boys...it's rough hunting. With thr on my phone and a nice cup of fresh brewed coffee, I think I can stand it for a few hours.

....note to self . Bring cabin slippers next time. The floor is cold.

I've found that turkeys pay no attention to blinds but deer do unless it's been there awhile. If hunting season is opening soon or is already open, brushing it in with native foliage will help until they get used to it.

Best of luck to you.

Update to my previous post #3. Finally got that other blind set up today, only about a month later than originally planned. Not gonna be there on opening day, (this Sat.) as the deer probably won't be used to it yet. Planning on using it for some late gun season afternoon opportunities as the trail cams tell me they often come through that small meadow in late afternoon just before dark. My friend whose property it's on gets first dibs on using it as I told him that landowner gets the first choice as to whatever day he wants. IMG_4856.JPG IMG_4857.JPG .. Shown with windows partially open for a good view and easy to shoot from, but not fully open because I feel too exposed when there's critters nearby. Got the 5 gal. bucket padded swivel seat and a small folding table in there. All systems "GO"; I'm hoping my landowner friend can get something from there this year. He just turned 80 and has cut way back on hunting but years ago he wisely bought a lifetime license. The state sends him a new license and a doe tag automatically every year. Should he get one either I or another friend will do the field dressing, dragging and also take it to the processor and pay the fees. Only thing he has to do is shoot it. He pays the property tax on that land so we figure it's the least we can do for a friend who lets us hunt his woods year round. Best of luck to all you other folks on this thread.

I put my popups out about 3 weeks before bow season starts- I also get my feeders filled and running at that time. I have considered putting silhouettes on my ladder stands year round too but haven't committed to it.
