Been checking the mailbox for weeks now, every day expecting a big package from BATFE. Today it came.

Some sample forms, the license, a few books of regs and proceedures and the list of guns on the curios and relics list. Tons of stuff I want to buy.

I think a Makarov and a Tokarev will be first, just the thought of a pistol sent to me through Fed Ex gets me excited. No LTC, background check, waiting period.....and all in Massachusetts.

Then I'm gonna get a few more Mosin's, a couple of SKS's, maybe an M1 and a 1903 Springfield.

Then I want to get as many M1911's as I can afford from different manufactures. Hi-Powers are on the list too, and Lugers and tons of old Colts, Smith & Wessons and Winchesters.

Then when I get enough pocket pistols to make my pants fall down, it will be on to semi-auto battle rifles.

This is great, seems I've been waiting forever. Check book watch out, here I come! :) :) :) :) :D :D :D :D :D

Im about to fill my application out. One question, if I decide to sell a weapon, can I sell directly to a buyer, or do I have to go through another FFL for the DROS and all that?

i just finished applying for mine, mailed it out this week actually.

www.cruffler.com is a good resource for info, it was referred to me by fellow high roaders.

the form is simple to fill out, takes about 10 minutes. the hardest part for me was figuring out who my CLEO actually was. here's a hint, in my county it was the sheriff, though they say its not always so? i have no idea. when it was all said and done, i had to forward my application to the pistol liscensing unit, so if you get lost that might be a good place to ask questions.

For what exactly is the C&R? I am assuming, by the tone of your post, that it allows you to buy weapons. But which weapons? Can I buy new AR-15s with one? Fill me in, please?

Davo, with the C&R license you can sell a gun direct to someone else if that person meets all the standards of a personal transaction in the state you live in. You have to keep a record of all transfers, and a bound book copy of a record of everything you buy or sell, that the ATF has access to at any time.

nvshooter, with the C&R, you can purchase collectable and relic weapons, and import them from out of state and have them shipped directly to your home without having to go through a gun dealer. It effects all guns (most guns) more than 50 years old. You can't buy an AR15 with that license, but you could by hundreds of older military and sporter models of shotguns, rifles and handguns.

When you find an M1 or 1903 Springfield cheaper than the CMP, let me know.

Let me know when you find that cache of 1911s and Hi-Powers, too. The only C&R 1911 I've been able to find for less than a grand was my Sistema.

Just, for cryin' out loud, do NOT get into Swiss or Finn rifles! Those are mine!

Have fun with it, nothing better than getting a long box that smells like grease delivered right to the door.

Farnham, thanks for the tip on the Finn and Swiss stuff....LOL...I might have overlooked that.

Yeah, CMP best bet for M1 and 03, but you never know. I might just end up with 20 Mosin Nagants and a few thousand rounds of ammo.

Had a friend at CMP years ago who offered me a few "Choice" selections, and I didn't take his offer. Kicking my butt now, he's not director anymore.

I was surprised by the list of guns I can buy as C&R, like old Savage 99's. That's still what I use for a deer rifle. Seems like my Baretta mod 34's will get some company too, and who knows what else.

I do have a hint where I can get some 1911's. A friend has more than one of EVERY manufacturer, and he's thinning the heard. I don't need a C&R for this, but you never know.

I see some P38's available too.

Remember, my being in Massachusetts makes it even more fun to just buy over the net. It's so restrictive here that to order from shotgun news and get it delivered at home is like a major treat. As we say here..."wicked cool!"

well, somone told me that the .pdf file on cruffler is an outdated form and that i had to order the forms mailed to me but i called the atf and a very pleasant female agent explained to me that the .pdf file i had was the same form 7cr and that it would be just fine. i made sure to print it out so that it was on both sides of the paper and right side up and all that, then sent it off to the atf and my cleo (i hear that's not mandatory anymore, but i did it anyway to be safe) with any luck, the paper work should be back at my home pretty close to the time i get there. sheriff joe is a pompous tool, though so i wouldn't be surprised if he tried to "deny" an application that requires no action on his part.

If you order parts and supplies from either MidwayUSA or Brownells then send them a copy of your C&R so you can get the dealer discounts.

The discounts you recieve from them two are well worth the $35 for the C&R license.

Fuggedaboutit

Your bank account will hate you. When I got mine (ya know... to SAVE money)

I actually started spending WAY more.

It's lotsa fun tho!
