Got my PT145!

Uh- you mean you did not get the Millenium PRO?
I hope you have good luck with it. I got a PT-145 MilPro last October and have not found a round that would not feed. I have used Winchester WB FMJ, UMC flat nosed FMJ, Federal Hydra-shock JHP's, ProLoad JHP's, and Winchester Silvertip JHP's so far. I really like mine. I look forward to many years of use out of it.

There may be a reason!!
Check the frame where the slide hits it for cracks on the corners!!

There are plenty of folks who never had the frame-cracking problem. Could just have been a bad batch that damned the entire line.
Your PT145 is more likely than not a sound pistol. No need for me to put worries in your head that will most probably never materialize.
From my understanding, the cracks were a grotesque cosmetic catastrophe, yet not a detriment to proper function that would take the pistol out of action (which in some cases could prove fatal).
If it does ever crack, you can just send it back to Taurus anyway, even if purchased used.
As for the ammunition, I'd would personally stick with what you've got! Pow'Rball ammunition should give both good penetration, expansion and energy out of the PT145's short tube. Its ingenius bullet design and zippy speed is precisely what I would want for such a pistol, personally.
I would only look elsewhere if you're not getting the accuracy you expect or encounter other problems that would dictate change.

If you can stand the trigger pull, you'll likely have no problems with a later model PT145. I found that I couldn't wait for the Pros to show up, so last year I asked my dealer to order one. Mine was manufactured about 2 months before the Millenium Pros hit the shelf. It's been a fine gun so far, although I need to shoot it more. I carry it in a Hume leather IWB clip on (I love this design - exceptional workmanship at a very reasonable price - checkout www.gunnersalley.com). Places to get mags:
1- gunshows- Taurus was running a promotion a while back where dealers were getting cut rates on mags. My dealer gave me an extra and I bought another one (new in package) at a show for $20.

3- factory mags are cheap enough so that I wouldn't settle for aftermarket - the only times my other Taurus autos malfunctioned was with aftermarkets.
When the frame cracking issue surfaced, people dumped these guns like crazy and the resale value plummeted. I seen nearly new guns for $200 (I can just imagine what the dealer gave for it). Some dealers flat out refuse to talk trades on Millenium models. Dealers who had them in stock found that months passed before somebody asked to look at one, let alone buy one. I think alot of this was due solely fo reports from within the gun community. Happy customers have a way of spreading the word. Unhappy customers appear to be twice as effective.

I have been pleased with my PT145 and I bought mine when they first came out. Mine is a very low serial number (NUE000xx or something like that). I usually just shoot the cheap Winchester white box 45 ammo. No problems.
