Only took 23 days from the date of the fingerprinting. I have to say - this is the second time this year that the government pleasantly surprised me by being efficient - first my citizenship test took about 10 minutes and now this...

Have to celebrate by taking some toys out this weekend...

The question isn't....

What are we going to carry?

The question is what aren't we going to carry?:D

I am thinking about picking one of these up but I will need a better belt and holster.

Now it is a pistol and therefore legal on our permits.:D

In all honesty my little Ladysmith will probably end up being my always gun with the P7 not far behind. Just about every handgun I own is suitable for CCW so I have plenty of choices.

I hope it works out for you. What kind did you get, just out of curiosity.

I have been really happy with Don Hume's stuff. It is very inexpensive but of a very good quality.

I want to try a Milt Sparks Versa Max II but just can't seem to justify the price even though I have never heard anybody say anything bad about them......except the price.

Chris

Congratulations, Slingers! Assuming that this is your first, I'd be interested in your perceptions, fears, and "happythoughts" as you get accustomed to CCW. Most folks find it strange at first, usually fearing that they've been made at every turn. Then it just becomes part of you. Take care.

small gun

Dont need a holster just jam it in your waist band!!!

I almost always have a gun on or around me on the homestead so to speak so I don't think it will be that different.

I don' t worry about being made for two reasons. Keeping the weapon concealed is not a requirement of TN law and I have learned that people are pretty oblivious. I have seen people not realize when someone was carrying openly.

My only fears revolve around an actual force on force confrontation but they are really similar to the fears I always have. I always carry a knife or three on me and have always been prepared to use them for self defense if necessary. I realize a gun comes with a whole new set of responsibilities but I take them in stride. I guess my biggest fear is the innocent bystander issue......that and the lawyers looking to crucify anybody after even the most clear cut defense shoot.

All in all I don't think it will change my situational awareness as I am very situational aware now and try to act accordingly.

I guess the idea of is 5 shots in a revolver enough becomes more of a question as at home it is a moot point as 5 shots would be plenty to fight my way back to the artillery. 5 shots out and about is a different story even with reloads. I personally am comfortable with a 5 shot snubby right now but this is my always gun. I will most likely carry a 7-9 shot semi auto whenever possible. I like the idea of a faster reload.

Who knows. I hope my biggest issue is some soccer mom going nuts because I print or reveal the gun in some way. That should at least be good for some entertainment.

Yea!!! That was quick. If I couldn't have my Kramer horsehides I would look into Kydex for holster. Next lunch will be a gathering of heavy metal, smallest caliber at table buys! Naw, I won't be packin' that .44 Mag! Got back into town Sun night, Abilene TX is a tad "warm" in July! This is the Mayor  Gonna try to get to Owl Hollow on Sunday. Congrats on permit, it's a shame we have to prove ourselves worthy & register with Das State. Bah!

It will be tight when you get it. It will take a little while to break it in and loosen it up.

We have Hume's for the P7 and P99. I will most likely get a couple more for other guns. I am very happy with the product.

Being in Music City must help speed things up. I have marked 50 calendar days for everybody I know here in East TN. and their permit has arrived at that time.
OR, perhaps a change of Govenor has something to do with it.
Naaa....

Bainx, you have to add $50 to the permit cost for the speedy service. (kidding!)

From what I understand, when the fingerprinting was still with ink and paper, it did take longer to get the permit. (Mail it to TBI and wait. Then mail to FBI and wait....) Now it's electronic fingerprinting. Once your digits are scanned, an email is sent to TBI and FBI at the same time.

Congrats, you two.

I'm moving this down to Handguns: General. Look for it there.

Congrats on the his and her CHL's......

How many questions did they ask you on the citizenship test?

I had 5, got them all right (well I should, I went to school here from the 2nd half of the third grade).

Hope your Naturalzation paperwork clears quickly!!!!

Congrats.

I know how happy my wife and I were to get ours quickly, less than 3 weeks if I remember correctly. Now, have a good time finding out what actually works and what doesn't.

Originally, I am from Baku, Azerbaijan (one of USSR's 15 republics).

Hops, I am actually a citizen already. I answered 10-15 questions total, I think.

So, three naturalized Americans - a Russian, a German and an Azerbaijani - walk into a Tennesee gun shop ...

Congrats on the pistol permits and the citizenship process!

You'd a thunk one of them would have seen it coming.......ba ba bump.

I'll be here all day don't forget to tip your waitress.

man, reading this makes me wish we hadn't moved from TN. I used to live in Murfreesboro...Waterford road if anyone knows the town. If you do, PM me and I'll tell ya the house #. (this was 13 years ago, so I don't care telling. maybe you know an old friend of mine who's still there!) Not only for guns, but for fireworks too! IIRC, there was a year round "fun shop" just outside of town, and every year a tent in the Kroger parking lot....gawd I miss TN! :( (even though it got me talking out the side of my mouth...took 4 years to get rid of that :neener: )
