It was a very nice morning and very little wind so I did some new to me gun testing and also some ammo testing. The gator performed flawlessly. It's a very easy rifle to shoot. Just flip the bolt up and back with your thumb and flick it forward and down with your finger. It requires very little effort. The mag seats easily. The only thing that bothered me a little is it's been a long time since I used an accu-trigger and it felt "funny" for a time. I have an early Mk II and the bolt requires more effort to operate than the new version and it no long has an accu-trigger to be familiar with. I'm quite satisfied with my MK II gator.
I shot a variety of ammo, golden bullets, cascade, blazer, CCI sv, aguila, and thunderbolts. I had not one problem, everything went bang when I pulled the trigger. There was very little difference in group size through out the different brands. I expected the CCI to do best and it did but not by much and the thunderbolts were very close to it and golden bullets right behind them. I love it when cheap ammo shoots accurately and thunderbolts are cheap compared to most of the others although I ran into some blaser the other day that's about it's equal in price.
I shot at 25 and 50 yards an had no outstanding groups. The problem was me, not the gun. I sat at a different bench than I usually do and the range's benches have seats that vary quite a bit in height in relation to the bench part. This one was too low. I carry a cushion but it made the seat too high. I just never got comfortable and into a groove.
Next trip I'll use "my" bench and I expect to do better. Next week I'll go again and see what happens.
