That's pretty much the same way I have felt about my 10/22 for the last 37 years! Have fun and enjoy!

I just put a scope on it today as I had a set of rings and a bushnell 3-9-32 scope I had saved from the last gun. so I put that on and sighted it in this morning and now have a tack driver! :) i'll see if I can get a pic uploaded...

Welcome to the 10/22 club. I bought a standard model with a blued barrel and wood stock because I am a wood guy. Congrats, you will get a lifetime of use out of it and beyond.

thanks Taurus this is my first stainless steel gun to actually like! :) I never thought I would like nothing but blued and wood but when Walmart got in this stainless with black synthetic stock something clicked and I fell in love with it! funny how that happened as I loved blued with wood only for years. but this one caught my eye... now that I own it I just love it as well as my henry leveraction 22. they both are great and flat out fun to shoot! so i'll break it in this fall on some squirrels and rabbits, so am ready for the fall season!! :)

10/22s are the best all around .22s around, I prefer mine in the standard blued with wood stock....whatever floats your boat...also got the 10/22 on steroids in .44 mag....love it too, best brush gun for hogs ever.

This is my "vintage" 10/22. It was such an accurate gun with the iron sights that I had to put a scope on it just to see how much more of a tack driver it could be. When I want a slightly more compact set-up I use the Butler Creek folding stock.

I really enjoy my 10/22. I put a Simmons 4x scope on it for 40 bucks and its great.

Its too bad that 22 ammo is still at stupid prices, 10 cents/round.

I've still got a pretty good stockpile that will last me awhile, hopefully the price comes down in the near future.

I didn't know there was a different trigger? tell me more about this trigger please??

Do a search for Ruger BX Trigger. It's made by ruger and a lot better. I think it's around 80 bucks.

Brimstone is well known and will work on your trigger. The lowest service is, I think, only 35 and it's a big improvement. They offer 2 other better services as well.

Or you can spend a fortune and buy all new aftermarket stuff.

Did yours come with a stock trigger? That thing is beyond garbage. I need to buy the BX trigger.
Before purchasing the BX trigger, I highly recommend considering a Brimstone trigger job. The Tier 3 job is about half the price of the BX trigger, you have the option of pull-weight between 2-3 lbs, and it includes the auto-bolt release modification. The Tier 2 job is even better. I have both a Tier 3 and Tier 2, and can say that they are both worth the money. I have dry-fired the BX trigger and although it's not bad, I think it's overpriced for what you get.

If you're happy with the stock trigger, keep it. I have several that have worn in nicely, and several that have been locally modified to the 2.5#-3.0# range. I also have a BX-trigger, on my 1970 vintage 10/22. I simply didn't want to alter the vintage trigger. As a hunter and plinker, I don't need that super-light, paper-punching trigger. I also teach, and a new shooter isn't well served with those ultra-light target triggers.
