So I got a Gp100 for my anniversary back in October. It has developed a nasty problem. In SA mode, once and a while if you are pulling the trigger back "gently" it catches and the trigger wants to reset and the hammer does not fall forward. I sent it to Ruger before X-Mas and got it back today. They Replaced/Repaired everything besides the frame. Well, needless to say, it is still doing it. If you give the trigger a good pull, it wont do it. Anyone else have this problem, is it a user problem, will it "work" itself out, or do I have to send it back, again.

It sounds like the sear part of the trigger is pulled out from the hammer notch OK but then catches the hammer lifter (Ruger calls it the hammer dog) as the hammer falls.

That is usually the result of a too-light a trigger pull, but can also be the result of pulling the trigger very slowly so as to deliberately create the condition. Normally, the SA trigger pull should be hard enough that the finger can't let up before the hammer falls past that point.

I have never run into it on a Ruger, but have seen it several times on other guns, usually those worked on by folks trying to lighten the trigger pull.

I would talk to Ruger and tell them that it is still not right and see what they say. You might end up returning it again, but they might have to make the SA pull a bit harder to resolve the problem.

crap

It has all factory internals, I thought a gentle squeeze was the best way to shoot. Thats why I wanted a da/sa revolver. If i PULL the trigger in sa it works fine, but intermittently, when I SQUEEZE the trigger, it does this. It bothers the crap outta me.
