My wife and I met our son-in-law, oldest grandson, and four great grand children at the range this morning. Everyone shot but this post is mostly about my 13 year old great grand daughter. She loves to shoot and she brought her semi-auto 12 guage shotgun along and fired it several times killing a few rocks in the process. The gun is as long as she is tall. I took my Super BlackHawk, 357 BlackHawk, and DW 15-2 VH8 along and asked if she wanted to shoot the SBH and she did. My loads were 200 gr. lead over 10 gr. of Unique which kind of made the 40 S&W action on the steel swinger look pooty in comparison but still not bad in that heavy revolver. The kid fired it 12 times using up that ammo. Next I loaded up the Dan Wesson with full house 357 and she shot it with nary a miss although she did look around at me after the first shot and saw "WOW". Next was the BlackHawk with the same loads and she shoot it 12 times exhausting that supply of ammo. Not one miss and she had never shot any of them before. I nicknamed her "Dead Shot" last year because of her reliability with a 22. Looks like she retains the name.

I did tip her off to aim at the bottom of the swinger with the Dan Wesson because it would shoot a little high at the range we were shooting, about 20 yards with my MK I eyeball.

I love to take the step grand kids shooting and they love it too. Although a couple years ago my then 15 year old one wouldn't touch a shotgun but loved .22 rimfires. Turns out she was listening to some kids at school tell exaggerated horror stories of brutal shotgun recoil. And I was trying to let her shoot a Mossberg 500 20 ga. with target loads. She's great with just about any 22, scoped or iron sighted and she wanted to stick with .22's so I let her. One of these days I'm sure that will change. The younger one is 9 and I have a Savage Rascal that is superb for kids in that age range. That thing shoots so good that I even enjoy plinking with it.
