Went to the range on Saturday, there was a guy there with about 6 firearms when i arrived. We exchanged greetings and he proceeded to ask about my firearms, i endulged him, then he proceeded to give me a guided tour of what he was shooting. I had my wife with me, and I must say she enjoyed herself! He let me shoot almost everything he had. Most of which I had never fired before. Starting with a brand new S&W 19 that had never been fired, I dont care for DA revolvers but it was nice. Then my wife shot a M-1 carbine from the mid 1940's, she really liked it, i joked about a carbine for her and a Garand for me, ha! Followed that up with a lever action 45 LC that was about the smoothest lever I had ever operated. And then a 1898 Krag 30/40. I had never had the chance to shoot one before, but now I'm sold, I need a carbine version of that gun, what a heck of a bolt action that gun had. Second in smoothness to the remington 700 my father shoots, and this is a gun thats over a hundred years old, wow. Anyhow, great day at the range.

*sigh* I wish people were that nice at MY range.
of course, what do you expect when the owner dies and his liberal wife takes over operations....
I think it's time to change clubs.

You met a good shooter. He finds as much pleasure seeing others enjoy his guns as he does himself.

Three years ago I was at the local range, (Cheatham WMA range), and another man shared a few rounds of Brit 303 as I did with my 30 Carbine.Turned out he had never shot a Carbine and I had never shot the Enfield. A year later I had one of the Enfields!

Thats one of the reasons I like range trips...you never know what you might get a chance to shoot. :D

Mark.

Just be sure to remember that day, and use his example in helping other shooters get acquainted with your guns! Things like this can, and should, snowball!:D:D
