Great Day! w/report

So yesterday I am talking to the kids after a spirited airsoft battle in the house (my wife was at work) lamenting how much I want a REAL 1911. the phone rings and its my LGS owner, "Are you still interested in the SR1911 you ordered in January? If so we have one in. Its 639 plus tax"

45 minutes later::D

Too bad I can't get to the range till this afternoon...

Well I got to the range with it and put 100 rounds through.

The gun cycled great, even with some crap 10 year old ammo I had. I did 2 mag dumps with the old ammo to try and muck up the works. Didn't happen. I used new and 10yr old Winchester White Box mixed up for 50 rnds and 50 of PMC.

It was windy out so the only target I used was a 6" self healing ball, I hit 53 out of 85 aimed shots with the target moving each time. Farthest hit was at about 28 yards. For reference with my Witness .40 my best is 64/100 with the ball.

Compared to my old 1911 (a 1973 Colt GI) this thing feels like a compitition gun. Compared to my buddy's Springfield (model unknown) they feel comparable. The trigger is my favorite on any 1911 I have fired, and second only to my Witness Match (in SA) that has had a trigger job. The "sorta" Novacks are an improvement but somehow odd, I can't place it yet but odd. I don't much care for the extended thumb safety or the fit of the eight round magazine, but that's just aesthetics it worked fine.

Overall a great gun and I am glad I waited.

good to hear. I just finally got a look at one last week after being on a wait-list since december. hope to pick one up in the next couple months.
