Hi folks,
I chanced upon a used speed six at my local range, it is engraved on one side. Any idea why someone would engrage one side? It has a surprisingly great DA trigger. At first I thought someone might have done some action work on it. But reading about the speed six on line, seems they all have great triggers.
Anyhow, I love the pistol, best CCW .357 IMHO. Looking for holster recommendations. Most of the holster makers I know, do not list the Speed Six as a covered gun.

For a holster, have you tried it in a S&W K-frame holster? The guns are very close in size and I feel sure that you would be able to use one.

As far as a holster goes I know Lobo Gunleather can make one for the six series, they made mine. Off the shelf ones aren’t common, best bet is eBay, having one made or trying a Smith K frame holster. Nice find!

Just about any K frame holster will work for a 6 series gun. The only ones that may not are security type holsters. I like the DeSantis Speed Scabbard. I can use the same holster for my 2 3/4 Speed Six or 2 1/2 Model 66.

Nice Score!! There's something about a Six series that screams "nice looking gun"! At least to me anyway.

I agree with the others that the PO just ran out of money for engraving.

That’s pretty slick. I like everything about it. Has kind of a naughty/nice vibe to it. 38spl for nice and 357 for a little naughty fun. Pretty frilly side for 38s and a down to business side for the .357.

I would probably ask around about getting the other side engraved though in a somewhat similar way. I love it, but I think it would bother me being like that after a while.

I suggest contacting Simply Rugged personally. Just because your speed six isn't listed in the menu doesn't mean they won't make a holster for you. I've found them to be helpful in that regard in the past.

I like the single side engraving, sometimes very different. I have a vintage Bianchi Scorpio holster for mine. It was designed for multiple carry modes. Shoulder, crossdraw, or strongside. Definitely recommend this holster if you can find one.

Photos are from a Google search.

Great score on a veritable tank of a .357 revolver!

Maybe the engraving on one side was done by some former owner who was just practicing or starting out to be an engraver. Ran out of money/time/interest and had to sell the gun as-is without ever finishing it. Anyways it makes for an interesting conversation piece and if it's ever lost you'll have any easy time identifying it!

Great Snag. I'd love to have it with or without the engraving. Love a fixed sight revolver and its small enough to carry if you want without much trouble and will handle anything you fire in it. In my opinion the older Rugers are light years better than the GP100 and SP101

My Security Six 357 Mag with a 2.75" barrel has been 100% reliable and accurate, its a keeper for me.

At one point I had both a Speed Six and a SP101. The size difference was so minimal the SP101 went bye-bye. The finish was much better on the Speed Six as well. Somewhere in the archives is an old thread of mine where someone was nice enough to post pictures of side by side comparison of the two.

I'm not generally a fan of engraving , but the split personality look appeals to me a great deal. That , combined with the barrel length makes that a pretty neat revolver.

Great score. The cylinders tend to get stiff and should spin very freely when clean. Remember that the cylinder unscrews off the stem in a clockwise turn from the rear. Opposite of what you expect. Also be sure to look at an exploded view and do this in a place where you won't lose anything if it goes flying off. I took mine off for a cleaning after a couple of decades and the cylinder now spins smoothly and feels great.

I think I have a TT Gunleather holster I had custom made for my 3" Speed Six, which gun I no longer own. I'd be willing to see that your way if you like.

I lucked across a NOS Bianchi 101 holster for my Six. It is not holding tight to my body as a Pancake style holster would but it is doing the job for now. I'm sure at some time I'll want to have a nice one made for it seeing as I have a pair of stag grips ordered for the revolver. These are great guns to enjoy shooting.
