I'm going to start loading for .380 and I've had this container of green dot sitting around for a couple years.

Anyone have load data for green dot with 100gr plated bullets?

None of the published manuals that I have show a load for it. There is some data on Steve's Pages:
http://stevespages.com/355p_3_100.html

In providing the link, I make no recommendation of nor do I express any opinion regarding the contents. Use at your own risk. Unless you are already familiar with Steve's Pages, please read his description of how he develops a load: http://stevespages.com/page8c.htm and give the data whatever credibility you think it warrants.

I like Red Dot for use in the .380acp along with Bullseye.
On hand, I have Bullseye, 800x, PB, Power Pistol, Longshot, and Green Dot for pistol powder. I'm looking for a use of the Green Dot.

With jacketed 100 gr bullet and green dot
Speer #10 says 3.0 - 3.2 gr
Hornady #3 says 2.8 - 3.6 gr.

Of the powders you have, I would suggest Bullseye as it meters well at small charges.

2004 Alliant load data lists 3.1 gr Green Dot as max charge for 100 gr FMJ - http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=182147&d=1364769070

100 FMJ-RN Green Dot OAL 0.975" Max 3.1 gr 955 fps 20,000 PSI
100 FMJ-RN Bullseye OAL 0.975" Max 3.3 gr 985 fps 20,100 PSI

You will find that Green Dot works very well for 380. I use 3.2 grains with a 100 grain Berrys and 3.5 grains with a 90 grain HP. I started using Green Dot when I got about three pounds from my dad for free. Three pounds lasts a long time at these small charges. :)

It is also excellent in 9mm Mak.

I wouldn't be surprised if I eventually ended up using something more conventional for caliber. Especially if I can't get the green dot to meter adaquately in my Lee auto disk.

Thank you for taking the time to dig that data up.

Berry's was the brand I was leaning towards. If always used Xtreme for other calibers, but they use a flat point in .380.

Green Dot metered with .2 gr variance in my Pro Auto Disk measures.

I can meter Bullseye with less than .1 gr variance and down to 1.5 gr drops with this $1 mod - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/working-diy-micro-auto-disk.741988/

index.php

I just use a plain Lee Auto disk. It works fine. I could not give a rip what the variance is shooting them in my P3AT.

No question Bullseye and almost anything else will meter better than Green Dot. The question was, however: Can you use Green Dot in the 380? The correct answer is yes, and it works very well.

Steve's Pages data is for jacketed bullets. I'm not seeing much of anything but jacketed using Green Dot. Suggests it may not be suitable. Contact Alliant and ask. http://www.alliantpowder.com/questions/default.aspx

Hmmm..... Good point. On the other hand, both Xtreme and Berry's recommend using either lead data OR mid range jacketed data. That recommendation has worked fine with 9mm, .45acp, .38, and 357. Assuming proper load work up, I would think that would apply to .380 as well.

This is my favorite load. Please start low and work up to the max. This is a heavy bullet for this little gun. Powder is made by Alliant.

My gun is a .380 makarov, I’ve hanloaded it to a gunstore with my specification of load resulting to an average of 1000 fps. A good load, It’s recoil on my mak is controllable on a standard recoil spring. but it will do better if the spring will be 19 lbs.

3.0 gr Titegroup with Sierra #8100 functions the gun perfectly, accurate at 25’. 3.2 gr Titegroup MAX is still very accurate, probably good defensive load.
