I've recently moved to Dallas. I'm off work this weekend and want to do something other than just bum around town. There is a 'Firearms & Militaria' show in Greenville TX this weekend.

Have any of you been to this show in the past? Is it worth the hour drive out there?

Thanks.

I have not been to that particular show but the last two small town shows I have visited were not worth an hour drive. I would think the Mesquite show that same weekend would be a better bet.

Sometimes the small shows are a surprise. Some of those east Texas towns are interesting. Drive around and get to know the area. chris3

It's at the Audie Murphy American cotton museum and if I remember correctly your entry fee covers the show and the museum. The last time I when there was around ten tables of used guns and the selection was not that great. if I was you I would wait until they have one at the Greenville mall (Crossroads mall on Wesley street) when there is around 40 tables and lots of new and used guns. Just my $0.02

Or..........wait until April and hit the Market Hall show in Dallas. That is the best show in the area. But, some of the Fort Worth shows are catching up. The Mesquite show, Big Town, Denton, and Lewisville shows are decient.....chris3

No idea about Greenville.

But if you like milsurps, you might like "The Ammo Depot" in Caddo Mills on I-35, about 30 minutes n.e. of Rockwall/Dallas.

When I last visited about a year ago, the owner even had the store open on Sundays for a few hours.
He sometimes buys some nice MNs, Mausers, maybe an Enfield etc from estate sales. Along with the shop hours he is a really good guy.

Thanks for the info folks. I might ride out to Greenville anyhow. Good chance to check out the surrounding areas.

And thanks I-O for the tip on Ammo Depot. I am a Milsurp Nut and am armed with a C&R FFL! (Not enough cash though! :D)

Greenville is about an hour away from Sherman, Texas and is about the same size. The gun shows in Sherman, in a word, suck (mostly kitchen table FFLs selling overpriced rusty .22 and .30-30 rifles, and the occasional S&W revolver without a single unmolested screw, and scented candle vendors), so I imagine Greenville's would be the same, and IIRC the same promoter does both shows.
