This weekend I am picking up an "officer's" 1911 that has a cerakote finish in flat dark earth. The stock factory grips appear to be a rubberized plastic type. They actually look fairly decent and feel "ok" also.

I am just looking for some ideas and opinions on some replacement grips. I will probably purchase some VZ grips. What I do not know is exactly what sort of color combo or pattern looks right for a FDE pistol.

I realize I will probably get some "whatever you like" or "whatever suits you" comments. That's not what I'm looking for. Just some honest opinions on what some of you guys think would look good on this pistol, and, if any of you have some photos of your FDE pistol and grips, that would be great. I am just trying to get some ideas.

Thanks much

If your controls are black, I would definitely look at black laminate. If the whole thing is ceracoated, I would look at black, OD, or a dark blue.

Anyone have any pictures of their grips on a FDE pistol? To be honest, I was kind of thinking about going with a black desert sand or a tiger stripe from VZ. That way I would still keep some black accents on the grip panels.

I realize this is just cosmetic, however it seems like it would sure "dress up" the pistol.

I would probably look at something that offered some sort of contrast to the FDE. Maybe what something what VZ has in Desert Tan like their 320 Black Desert Tan, Double Diamond, or Gator back.

Yeah. I have been thinking the same thing. Black desert sand, tiger stripe or the hyena brown. Does anyone use or have these grips?

Here is a pic of my Sig "commander" sized gun with an earth/bronze colored finish and black G10 grips...

Like others, I think black works well especially with my black controls.
