I have a new Springfield Garrison. They come from the factory with nice "thin" wood grips. I would like to put a set of stag or antlers on it but cannot find the "thin" ones. Any leads when to look at them and purchase?
I seem to recall discussions about thin stag/antler/ivory/etc. grips. I believe there are some out there (I don't recall the makers right now, but will search), but there is also a concern that those materials do not do well in thin configuration lacking structure for durability.
Stag/antler by definition is variable in thickness throughout the panel. If you do find a stag grip as thin as you want, it will look like more a faux ivory grip, and not have any of the 'antler' look you're looking for.
You might want to try Grashorn's Gunworks for elk stag grips. Don't know about the thickness of their grips but they might be able to accommodate your request.
