I bought a GSG .22 1911 recently, and was having some trouble cleaning it. I'm trying to run a nylon brush through the barrel, but it is hard to get it in, and it feels like it becomes stuck before the entire brush goes in. I am reluctant to force it through, so I pulled it out and am a little unsure of what to do with it now. It seems that it might be because the bristles are too stiff?

Any advice on how to proceed? So far I'm just letting the bristles soak in solvent for a bit and applying them to other things so as to try and wear them a bit. I figure that might help soften them.

I use a .22 brass brush with Hoppes to clean the barrel, followed by a bore snake, then dry cleaning patches until they come out clean. I run a lightly oiled patch through the barrel followed again by a dry patch.
