I have some observations and a couple of questions. Went to an estate auction this past weekend. The guys who died might be one of the reasons for the 22LR shortage. They auctioned off his 22,000 round stash! And that was just 22LR. He had hundreds of other rounds in 8-10 different calibers. Same with shotgun shells; several cases and dozens of boxes. One observation....the prices seem to be coming down. Most of the 22LR bulk ammo going for around $40 per brick. Most of the guns sold for about 90% of retail. Some auctions I attended in the last 3-4 years saw bricks selling for $70-$80. Most of the center fire ammo sold for about 90% of retail. There were some bargains on brass. And a hand tooled leather gun case that probably sold new for several hundred dollars, went for $40. The bargain of the sale was a Sako AV .270 with beautiful wood and a nice Leupold VX II 3-9X scope. The gun was nearly flawless and went for $900. Are you guys seeing changes in auction behavior? The ammo prices were still more than I was willing to pay, but much less than the last 3-4 years. i would be interested in your observations.
