Gun Bigotry

I am sure psychologists all over the world have a ball with the pairing of the words evil and black

Interesting. I do believe that "evil black assault rifles" was either coined by the left to demonize such things, or it was made tongue-in-cheek by gun owners in reaction to such demonization (possibly using their own terms, I don't know). If anything, given the characteristic nature of the left's policies, I'd say there's probably some truth to any psychologist's musings.

As for bigotry against guns... I like evil black rifles and pretty clad rifles (or pistols). Likewise, I hate the same: I'm absolutely bigoted against certain gun types, because I don't like them. :p That is, assuming we're going to start brandishing the term "bigot" around like the national media has been swinging "racist" for the past year. I don't think doing so is such a good idea; it weakens the meaning of the word to inaccurately ascribe it.

You are seriously trying to delve into the racist undertones of Evil and black? Give me a break, next you will be saying that because I capitalized the E in evil, but not the B in black, therefore, I had racist feelings.

The rifles are....black....

The antis call them evil...

That's the joke....

If they were all painted white, it would be evil white rifle.

Damn, now im racist against whites....

And I will like any rifle, pistol or shotgun that I want and I will freely discriminate against those that I do not, based only on traits that I do or do not like.

I don't much care for traditional hunting rifles as I have plenty of them, don't need anymore and I gave up hunting. So, yes, I discriminate against them. I don't like Hi-points... or Lorcins, or jennings.. I guess I am a racist hater. I must hate chrome or something.

And I will denounce them to anyone I like

I am extremely happy that we ave enough different brands of guns that we can descriminate against them . There are a lot countries in the world that cannot . I do not believe that the U.S. will never see the day where we cannot own guns , because there are just way too many of them in our hands . I would like to see a stat showing how many new gun purchases were made this year . The Govt can certainly pass more laws banning importation and manufacturing of certain varieties , but , never take them all away . So all you Tauras , jennings , and norinco haters that wouldnt own one be glad that somebody is owning them . The more guns sold the farther away losing all gun rights becomes .

Brand hatred may be the most common form of gun bigotry yet. The mere mention of Taurus, Olympic, Savage, Ruger, Glock, etc. will send the brand haters into a keyboard pounding frenzy.

Im with the OP on the bashing of brands can at times get out of hand.I know Taurus is one of the biggest brands people just love to smear.Followed by Hi-Point and then Bersa and Keltec.
Ive gotten to the point i only ask Taurus questions on Taurus base boards,as 50% of the replies elsewehere will be the "I told you it was junk" lines.

Im sure many people have had issues with these guns and some have a valid opinion, but when its stated so harshly and judgemental it makes the legitimate reasons look biased.

Ive also found people will suggest Glocks even when your asking for advice about derringers.
CZ guys are starting to get bad also,a bit too pushy and annoying.
1911 guys seem to be lightening up on the lowered priced options.
To the reloading guys, yes i know reloading can save me money and such, but i just dont want all that hassle.

I'm not getting a Glock.
Ever.
Don't care if they are dishwasher safe.
Give my a Hi Point.
Or a sharp stick.

Just don't preach to me about that gun:banghead::cuss:X

Sometimes there is a reason a gun is not liked. Lack of quality, a bad company, etc. But it isn't often that these are justified. Oly, Hesse, Jennings, these companies are not liked by a lot of people because of the lack of quality. At one time Ruger was not liked because of the company politics (at the time it was justified, although not so much now).

The point is that there is a fine line between gun bigotry and disliking a company for a valid reason.

No one is trying to push anyone into buying a Glock or any other gun for that matter. Just don't go around beating up on a company just because you don't like the looks or the feel of their product. Yes there are companies that turn out nothing but junk, but Glock, Taurus, Savage and even Olympic and Kel-tec aren't among them, at least not these days.

It's the dropping and discharging plus lack of admitting to a recall that I take issue with. Plus Glock owners beat EVERYONE over the head about how great they are:barf: And in case you missed the title of the thread i'm a gun bigot and proud of it. X

Rather broad-brushed, isn't it? I own a few Glocks, don't have issues with them, and could care less whether you like them or not, nor will I preach about any brand of gun. I WILL, however, state my opinion about something, especially if someone is asking for both good and bad about something I have experience with.

Just like TV, if you don't like the show, change the channel.......

I love almost every firearm I have seen/held/shot but Mosin Nagants have a spot in my heart where I dislike them. I will shoot one if it belongs to a friend and stuff but I just hate them because they are so clunky. After handling several at a gun show I immediately ran home, washed off the cosmo with a hot shower then hugged my 700, Savage and K98 :D

I basically tolerate the guns I do not like which is very very few. My dad on the other hand bashes me for liking Saigas/AK's and having a Mossberg 500 (he likes his 870 which I like too.) But when he was complaining about how my 500 had an aluminum receiver, I called him a hypocrite because his favorite gun the AR-15 is aluminum...

I've got nothing against Glocks. Some of my best friends are Glocks. I just wouldn't want my sister to carry one.

I gotta admit, Fiddle made me laugh pretty loud with this one.

I admit to being a kel-tec bigot. I am also not too worried about the fact that I am.:scrutiny:

Hello, my name is Hokkmike and I am a brand name snob. I like the Sako's, Beretta's, H&K's, Walthers, Winchesters and other proven brands.

Guns and tires are the same. If your life depends on them buy the best you can afford. No discount tires at 85 mph on Interstate 80 makes me feel like I am protecting my family.

The "evil black" rifle monicker is interesting. It was, no doubt, propounded by someone who did not understand them and how they work and therefore was afraid, or someone with an anti-gun agenda.

It is the USER not the gun who is good or evil. And most folk I have met on the range or in the field are exactly the kind of people that I like to associate with. Most of you I am sure!

thbbbpt!
BTW, also own Taurus, Smith, generic AK, and Ruger. No Colt's yet, never any Glocks, (personal preferance), and someday will have some SiGs.
If it goes bang, fits my hand, hits the target, and works relaibly, is good. If it doesn't meet those simple requirements, is bad.

Why do we have to refer to someone as a "gun bigot" in the first place?

I don't like Glocks because I don't care for their fit or feel, and I certainly don't care for the device they call a "safety" because it doesn't seem to work. This is personal preference, not being a bigot.

And although I own one, I don't like Bushmaster because they burned me on a warranty repair. They fixed it and made it right but damaged the barrel nut doing so, and honestly it shouldn't have been sent back to me in that condition. I'm fine with it though because it gives me a reason to buy some armorer's tools and vise blocks so I can rebuild it into what I want. Spending a grand on a rifle and then getting it back almost as messed up as when I sent it in for work doesn't make for repeat customers. Again, I'm not being a bigot because it's a legitimate complaint on poor customer service and warranty repairs, and no QC.

Hello. My name is Werewolf and I'm a gun Bigot! I've disliked Ruger since 2004.

Why am I bigoted against Ruger - surprise it doesn't have squat to do with Bill's politics

It has everything to do with their engineering.

After I talked to a Ruger engineer who stated categorically that my Vaqueros with .4505 cylinder throats and .4525 bores were within spec and had no clue what tolerance stack was I became concerned. When the same engineer stated that no way would forcing a .452 lead bullet thru a .4505 hole and then firing it thru a .4525 bore barrel cause leadingon the cylinder face (so bad I couldn't fire more than 40 rounds or so without the cylinder binding), in the forcing cone and barrel, overpressure in the cylinder etc I became, shall we say, a bit disillusioned with the competence of the engineering staff at Ruger.

But I might have been wrong so I had the cylinder throats reamed to .4525. Lo and behold 8" groups at 25 yards from a ransom rest prior to reaming became 3" groups at 25 yards with a ransom rest. And no leading! Well no isn't exactly right since after 100 rounds I detected a small amount on the forcing cone but none in the barrel at all.

Basic engineering - Ruger doesn't have a clue.

Ruger can go urinate up the proverbial rope for all I care. They've not gotten a dime of my money since 2004 and never will, ever again.

There's a reason Ruger over engineers most of their products! It's so they won't blow up in people's faces who are firing factory ammo.

I love my Rugers. I'll take yours if you don't want 'em. I really don't care how my .45 is bored. I only care that it puts six shots into one ragged hole at 25 yards.

And, I've known a lot of stupid engineers in my life, some brilliant ones, but more often the "if you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with BS" types.

Performance speaks for itself. I don't need no BS substitute.
