I grew up in NY with one shotgun that got cleaned and wiped down with CLP on the rare occasion it was shot. I moved to AZ and wound up adding several rifles and pistols to my collection. Same drill.

Now I'm gonna be moving to where its more humid, very humid actually. Will this still protect my firearms? More specifically the ones that don't come out very often?

CLP Breakfree is one of the best rust preventing lubricants.
As long as you maintain a thin layer on the metal you should be okay.

Actually Breakfree CLP works great in S.E. Texas where the temps can average over 95 with 80% humidity. Also even when the weapons look dry they are still protected and do not rust..Maybe it is PTFE or magic dunno but none of my friends have had problems. Do a search on THR about lubes or cleaning and you will find some actual scientific test with gun lubes. The CLP works as a good all around lube and protectant; there are many others for sure but CLP works for most needs.

LPS3 used to be used inside aircraft for anti corrosen until better products became available.

LPS2 will also work but does not leave the sticky surface like LPS3.

LPS2 is a great lube but I have never used it on a firearm; should work fine.

unfortunatly, if you want real rust protection, i do not know of a way to get around the stick ooy gooy stuff. i once stored a family heirloom for 20 years with nothing but STP. it worked great, no rust anywhere. but it was a mess to clean up. to me, it was just the cost of total protection. sometimes, if you want to play, you have to pay.

There are a lot of great solutions here. Than you everyone for contributing. The longest anything sits is the long range guns that only come out once or twice a year (So Far). Even the not so fired pistols see the range every 3 months or so. I was more worried about shooting something on monday and then sitting down saturday afternoon to clean it and having a two tone barrel. Then there is the AR that might be on the rack for 3 or 4 months.

I'm pretty sure CLP will work for my needs. I will just need to give them a wipe down between cleanings.

I once stored a blued shotgun barrel coated with LPS3 in its cardboard box in my garage. Unbeknownst to me, that corner of the garage flooded during heavy rains and the box got soaked. Months later I took the barrel out out of the still soggy box - not a speck of rust anywhere. There may be better rust preventatives, but if there are I'd love to get the names.

LPS3 is also an excellent chain lube.

I use Breakfree Collector because there's no need to clean it off before using, unlike LPS3.

Yep we used to spray tail section ribs down with LPS3 on our taildraggers until a few of us started using Corrosion -X.... less weight build up and not as bad for collecting dust. It works also but I would guess with your shot gun story Natgun LPS3 really really works!!!! Wow!
