My dad gave me a Winchester Pistol Case last week - its a sweet setup - I have one problem though.

On each side of the carry handle there are the locks, its the kind of locks that you spin a dial (3 o them) to a number eg (598) and slide the tab over on each side to unlock it. Right now there are red pieces of plastic through the locks- under the dials that you spin, holding them in place.

I am trying to figure out how to set the combination so I can lock it. I can open and close the case just fine, but the locks read "000" on each side and look like they need to be set some how, there are no instructions, and I have looked around on the net to no avail.

Does anyone know much about these cases or someone who does?

Thanks friends

Behind the locks on the inside should be a small metal lever. The position it is in now is the "locked in" position. Slide/move it, and cut the red wires/plastic strips. Adjust the dials to what you want, slide/move the levers back.

Done. Very similar to most briefcases, actually.

third- thank you!

I will try this as soon as I get home, you are my hero- if it works, that is :D

:D

Well, if it doesn't work.... I'll be surprised. I have yet to see a 3-dial-combination lock that didn't use that system.

I bought a 3-dial pistol case from wal mart that works differantly. You put it to whatever number is the combo, and push the tabs in the opposite direction you would normally push them to open the case. After that, you set the code and push the tabs back. I have a hunch that yours might work the same way as mine, I've seen metal pistol cases that look just like mine but have differant brands names printed on the side.

The one I had worked like the one Turkish has. Set dials to current combo, push slide levers in (when out would normally unlock), set new combo and release levers. I don't recall the brand.
