I'd like to purchase a gun cleaning kit for my boyfriend, but I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for...I found the following online:

1. Otis Mossy Oak Tactical Cleaning System

2. Otis Elite Cleaning System with Optics and DVD

He has about 7 different types of guns, so I'm assuming I need a universal cleaning kit. Can anyone help me out with this? I'm at a loss & would really like to get his something nice & useful. Thanks in advance!

The Otis elite should be just fine. I recommend the DVD,the Otis patches are a bit strange.

Shotguns, rifles, pistols & magnums...2 of each & with different gauges. He's one of those guys that has everything already, and I know he enjoys cleaning his weapons, so I thought a more complete cleaning kit would be a good idea for a gift. I also found the following:

1. Otis Deluxe Rifle/Pistol Cleaning System

2. Otis Tactical Cleaning System with 6 Brushes

Are either of these better than the Otis Elite that I mentioned previously? Any other ideas for a man who loves his guns? Thanks so much for your help! It's GREATLY appreciated!!!

Ok...but the DAC doesn't have solvents or lubricants. Is that going to be an issue? I know he has already & can always buy them separately. Any other opinions out there???

First off, welcome to the forum and I think its great you want to get your boyfriend something like this. I have a suggestion though that I think will be better in the end. Since he already has some cleaning equipment, you may be wasting money by buying a kit that has stuff in it he won't use. Spend some time with him and learn what guns he has in which calibers. Then make him his own cleaning kit specifically for his guns. That will really impress him. I recommend Pro Shot Products for gun cleaning rods, brushes, jags and mops. I also really like tipton patches and Break Free cleaner/lubricant. Use something like a plano tackle box from walmart to put it all in. If he is anything like me, he will be blown away by your effort. As he gets another gun, you can add the appropriate parts to his cleaning kit. Once you find out the guns/calibers, post them here and I'm sure we can create a shopping list for you.

Well for lubricants and solvents i would say a bottle of Breakfree CLP that will do everything and is very high quality stuff I used to clean a gun with about 25 patches the las time I cleaned a rifle with the Breakfree it only took me 6 patches and that was after 150rds.

Not sure what your budget is, these are more on the high end. Believe they're still available from Kleenbore. Got them many years ago when the price was less than $200 each. Handles and shotgun cleaning rods are Pakkawood. Have many more cleaning tools than these, Kleenbore's kits offer about everything you'd need for handguns, rifles, and shotguns.
