Vermont looks wrong because we only have one congressional district in the entire state, but support (or lack thereof) varies depending on what part of VT one lives in. Areas with heavy concentrations of down-country transplants- Burlington, Montpelier, Brattleboro… are for gun control. Areas that are still mostly natives, not so much.
But one also has to be skeptical of polling methodology, particularly by phone. Consider, for example, how the ability to answer questions from a stranger on the phone in the middle of the workday is unevenly distributed between the working class and, uh, others. That could tend to skew results, unless carefully controlled for. I don't see evidence of such controls in this poll's methodology.
