A Fresno man who police said had a loaded assaut weapon in his car was arrested early Sunday after a foot pursuit in the southwest part of the city.
About 12:15 a.m. Sunday, police pulled over a car with expired registration tags. The driver fled. Sgt. Richard Tucker said patrol cars, the department's Skywatch helicopter and its canine unit were brought in to pursue the man.
The chase went from yard to yard and ended on the 1000 block of Irwin Avenue, near California Avenue and Fresno Street.
Police said the weapon found in the car was an AR-15.
Police held Dexter Brazeal, 24, on charges of being a felon with a firearm, violating prison parole and resisting arrest. He was taken to Fresno County Jail.
