Japan has the Yakuza.

I wonder what China has.

I believe it is called the Triad. They are as brutal as any thug organization.
Ever see the movie "The Year of the Dragon"?

Stop believing in things you see in the movies, especially from really bad movies!

Triads are pretty-much localized to Hong Kong and Macau, while there are larger crime groups inside China.

China has organized crime like anywhere else in the world. They don't have to have murky pasts going back hundreds of years to secret societies BS. Organized crime happens when there is opportunity, for China, most of these began in the 1980's when China started opening up to the world. Lots of money to be made from smuggling things in, smuggling people out, gambling, vice, counterfeit products, etc.

Lots of "crime" can be related to official corruption. Weapons smuggling can often be traced-back to powerful elements in the military.

Isn't it also on the rise in the U.K. and Chicago?
I wonder what it's doing in Kentucky or Montana.

While they may pass them for safety in the U.K.(They don't work, of course), I'm not sure why they have them in China.
It's not even a misguided attempt at safety, if they cared about that, they wouldn't be persecuting the religious.
It's probably because of the natural communist urge to oppress people for no reason at all, religion, private property, guns, free speech, anything.

Yep, it sure looks like at least some of those guns being crushed are toys or replicas. Good thing they got those off the street before they fell into the wrong hands. :scrutiny:
