A friend and I were talking the other day and he made the comment that most shootings are done by convicted felons. while I believe this is probaly pretty accurrate I was wanting to find out if there has actually been a study that compares the gun crime rate to the felon rate. IE what is the rate of gun crimes that are commited by felons who are not allowed to own guns. Does the .gov track this info? Has anyone ever done a study on this?
From What I understand most gun crime occurs in the cities, are commited by gang bangers, and are commited by felons or those that are to young or have other disqualifing reasons they cant own guns.
I'm not sure if this is just my perception or if it is fact. If it is fact I would like to be able to quote a study that proves this.
Seems a study that would show that most gun crimes are commited by persons that are not allowed to own guns would help the law abiding gun owner prove that gun laws dont work would be a great help in the gun control debate.
Any one heard of such a study?
