I've always been a fan of the Professionals tv series(I watched an episode today,on dvd.) and although it began 30 years ago and ended 24 years ago,it left a legacy of cool guns, cars, watches and other gadgets.Martin Shaw and Lewis Collins were the two main cast members, along with Gordon Jackson,as Major George Cowley-and they must of had alot of fun, with all those guns. Some US readers might not be familiar with this show, but I'll get some pictures of it.There was a New Profesionals tv show, but it wasn't very successful and it did feature American operatives in it,from what I can remember.

Now some gun ideas for arming a modern CI5 organisation and this organisation is a cross between the FBI and the CIA or in the UK,it's the NCS and MI5.Bodie and Doyle used Browning HI-Powers,Colt Pythons,M29 Magnums,1911A1s and others and the Steyr Aug,made an appearence in 1979/80,too.Anything better than this?

As I recall Martin Shaw specifically demanded that the Professionals were never repeated on British TV. Despite the fact that the show brought him fame and better roles he always had some contempt for the program because "his character was portrayed as a violent puppet." He wanted to expand as an actor and didn't want to become typecast. It was a disappointment to both fans and his co-star, Lewis Collins who's career didn't take off in quite the same way as Shaw's - he could have done with the exposure and royalty cheques.

Martin Shaw always seems to come across as being firmly up his own *ss. I much preferred Collins' character of Bodie. Incidentally he was also a member of the Territorial 22 regiment back in the day.

The show seems a tad dated these days - especially in Britain's uber politically correct climate.
