at www.collectinsure.com $45,000 with an alarm or safe is around $281 and they have been insuring guns of all types for over 20 years and collections since 1966.The cost for $45,000 at www.historicfirearms.com Eastern Insurance is about $240 a year. No appraisals or serial list. Some of you are quoting that kind of money for a $5-10K policy.
Homeowners insurance typically only covers a set amount of firearms value, like $2500, and it's subject to your deductible. Also only covers the "covered risks" listed in the policy.Good question. Why wouldn't the homeowners policy cover this just like any other possessions?
Yeah, you sure showed them. You still have the car insurance with them.I am glad you guys have such a great experience with USAA. I just dropped them from homeowners. They have inceased my wind/hail/rain damage to 2% deductable of the value of my property and home. That is just crazy. I asked abou a standard deductable and they said they do not do that. I use them for auto's and that is great. I asked about guns and they started asking about serial numbers, make, models, storage locations, and even said they would need to come out and do an inspection to make sure I am storing them correctly and using gun locks. I told them I have a few departmentally issued weapons and then they freaked out saying that I could not store them together. I would need an approved safe and then they wanted to see if I had reloading equipment. I said the hell with them and switched to State Farm... I have been with USAA for 26 years...
