Looking for something to put in rotation in the bathroom library so i thought i'd get a subscription to a gun magazine. I've got no familiarity with any of them though so maybe you guys can help me out.

I don't really hunt (i go varmint hunting a couple times a year) so something that isn't focused on hunting would be preferred. I mostly shoot handguns , semi auto and revolver (have started getting into USPSA) and also have and enjoy shooting a modded 10/22 and an AR15. I've also started reloading recently.

Any recommendations on publications that jive with my gun interests would be much appreciated.

Hmmm. SWAT isn't bad.

Or you can get a laptop or handheld and a wireless router and surf THR in there... :neener:

You might want to head down to your local Barnes & Noble or Books-a-Million and check out their selection to see the ones you like.

I would suggest American Rifleman. YOu can read SWAT all you want, but unless your rights are protected you can never own the firearms you see. American Rilfeman magazine is included in your purchase of a 1 year NRA membership :) Probably about the same amount of money you would spend on a 1 year subscription to SWAT magazine.

Concealed Carry - Gabe Suarez writes a column for them.

Combat Handguns - Walt Rauch writes for them

Both really cool guys who have seen the elephant.

They have a lot of articles on non-LEO/non-military firearms as well. Civilian AR's/AK's and such.

"Special Weapons for Law Enforcement," on the other hand...

Have to say, the photography in Guns is top-notch.

Haven't read Small Arms Review much, but the December '08 issue on AK accuracy got me interested, so I may be checking that one out more.

Small Arms Review is pretty much it, everything else is chock full of bull****.

I'd start off as an NRA member with one of their magazines 1st. I get a bunch but there always seems to be interesting stuff in 'Shooting Times', Guns & Ammo is another to look at.

At one time I got seven different gun rags. All I got was broke.

Now the only two I receive are: American Rifleman and Gun Test. If Pistolero was back in publication I'd be a life time subsciber.

Small Arms Review (because they publish my articles) ;)

but it is a really good reading regardless of my minor and recent submissions as well ;)
