I got hit in the eye from a Mini 30 that my buddy was shooting. Luck for me it happened just as my eye was in the process of blinking. Otherwise I would have really been hurting. I did bruise the hell out of my eyelid.

Hit me in the back of the head and right down the back of my shirt. Impact was no problem but damn did it burn. Shirt was tucked in at the time too so it didn't just fall out.

Of course it throws it quite a distance but unless someone was standing in front of the firing line they wouldn't get hit with it. I used to have a mini, I had forgotten about its vigorous brass ejection. It was a ranch model.
Every time we went to the range, whoever was shooting the mini went on the FAR right of everyone else.
