I purchased a large Canon safe back in Dec 2014. I have a few other small safes but nothing like the one I just bought. Because of where I ended up located the new safe, I know temperature and humidity would a issue I would need to address. The room the safe is in doesn't have any air vents, old house. So temperature and humidity are a bit higher then the rest of the house. I have golden rods and Desiccant Dehumidifiers in the other safes, as well as this safe.

Have always looked for what the desired temp/humidity levels should be, but opinion seem to vary.

My experiment with this safe but to put a small server I use to monitor my security cameras in the safe. Server has been in the safe with a small amount or rifles, handguns, ammo, knifes, magazines, and reloading powder since January.

My results. Inside the safe well humidity is low... 23% to 35%. Temperature is 75-100.

So now the question, what does everyone think of the humidity and temp range?

Too dry and possibly too hot for being kind to wood stocks.

NRA national firearms museum says ideal storage is 50% at 70 degrees.

They probably should know.

I am using one of these;

My safe is small (maybe too small) 14 gun safe about 7.6 cubic feet, but it is keeping the humidity at approx 47% +/-2 and a temp of around 75-79degrees. I am hoping that is not to warm.

Lefty.
