Gun shirts & stickers, pro or con?

Stickers on a car, never. First, I consider my affiliations to be private; and secondly I wouldn't want to advertise that I might have desirable items inside.

When I'm driving, there's no way to hide the fact that there's a desirable item inside the car. Other than really dark tint, of course.:D

Advertising to thieves...

Every time this thread topic comes up, I always ask for evidence to back up the theory that thieves will break into a truck because they see a Browning Buckmark sticker. So far, nobody's been able to link to such an incident. Pity, I'd believe it if it were true.

Stickers on the house or a window are ok, but I shy away from tee shirts advertising that I may have a weapon on me. When I was a younger man and less paranoid, I wore them, but after seeing how many gang members are around on several documentaries on reputable channels in the past few months, I want to go as unnoticed as possible. I also don't want to be the focus of an armed robber should I be in a store as it's being robbed. Stealth is better.

If I put a sticker on my bumper or wear a shirt with a logo, it's because I want to promote something I believe in, such as the Libertarian Party bumper sticker and the NRA Life Member bumper sticker on my van. It's my hope that someone may notice and check it out.

The more something is advertised, the more credibility it appears to have at first glance, which is why it's such a shame that a majority of our media networks are left-wing, giving little voice to the other side of the issues.

In younger days, I thought wearing that stuff was cool, both on me, and my vehicle. In todays society, I don't feel the need to give away either of the following...
1. weapons in my vehicle.
2. any edge I may have by being armed by concealment.

Hey, that's just me...I'm not opposed to it, necessarily.... That's just what works for me.

I use to have a

1911 in full colour full size on a back window of a blazer I had. Never got anything but thumbs up from passers by. I had a NRA sticker on the back window of my trooper and once at a baseball game, parked down near the student ghetto, someone wrote profanities on the window above it with pink lipstick, it said something like Go kill someone you fing gun nut religious wacko, or something like that and they also broke out a wing window for my trouble. I had an extra wing window and the lipstick cleaned off. But I no longer have gun stickers on my vehicles because I don't want broken windows. When I wear either my Benelli H&K M1 Super 90 t shirt, or the one K&K Silence is golden with a drawing of a MP5A3SD on it, all I get is compliments from cops or civillians who are gun people or weird looks from gun hater types.

Well I don't yet have a car, but once I get my truck it'll probably have a couple stickers in the windows: NRA, TSRA, ROTC and SMU parking tag. Im not usually a big fan of bumper magnets of any kind :/

As for clothing, Almost all of my shirts were free/$5 ones from high school (theatre, comm service, general jesuit tees). I don't really spend money on clothes at all. Thats what relatives are for on Christmas/birthday :p But I do wear a Crown Royal belt buckle, and have a TSRA one, as well as a couple TSRA caps in the mail :)

I have no issues wearing a gun-related shirt. However, I won't put stickers on my car because, (1) I don't want people thinking there might be a gun in the car, (2) I won't put any permanent sticker on my car because I may want to sell it some day, and (3) I don't want people to judge me before they meet me. I may not choose to wear a gun-related shirt that day, but I can't just change my vehicle on a whim.

Shirts are cheap. Vehicles are expensive. First opinions are hard to change. I want to have some control over the image I am projecting at any given time, and I can't do that when I have a sticker permanently attached to my vehicle.

I see no reason for being anyone’s billboard and see plenty reason to not advertise many other things.

BTW, to remove decals use a hairdryer.

devildog32713: i have that exact same shirt. Small logo on the front. Large logo w/ "shooting sports" on the back. USA one sleeve, AUSTRIA the other.

THat is the most comfortable shirt i've ever worn. I've washed it so many times, it's heavily distressed and softer than silk.

I can see my blue Dillon long-sleeve tee getting the same treatment, it's super comfy. Plus, Dillon is good stuff (never mind that i use mostly lee, haha)

You should look unassuming and meek. Your assailant should only know you're armed when he sees your muzzle flash or hears your weapon's report.

Thanks, but I'd rather not have an assailant.

I'd rather my potential assailant avoid me because I'm obviously not unassuming and meek.

Shirts & Caps, sure why not.

Stickers on the car, nope. None of any kind. I always have to keep reminding my wife to take the darn work parking permit off her rear-view when leaving work; not to put mail with the address facing up in the car window; shred any personally identifiable information before throwing in the trash; never give out our real phone number; no one gets our SSN's unless required by law or a copy of the DL; cars are not registered in our names, etc.......

Am I paranoid?
I also carry two pistols, two folders, spare mags, flashlight, and OC at all times.
I'm cautious and prepared.

When I took my first CCW class, they had a lawyer get up and speak about this topic. He pleaded with us to go home and remove "beware of owner", and "I'm Reloading" etcetera type stickers/signs from home and vehicles. He explained to us that if you have to use lethal force, you MAY end up in court fighting for your freedom or even your life. It is a terrible idea to stack the deck against yourself, or in effect paint yourself with some kind of a "trigger-happy" brush. Think about the worst case scenario in court, liberal soccer moms on the jury, a room full of sad-eyed relatives, "He dint mean too". You will need all the help you can get, it's just not worth it. Even gun mods are a bad idea. Get rid of all that stuff NOW!!

I would submit this "lawyer" did not actually practice in this field :uhoh:

I have a sticker that says "WHERE HAS A GUN LAW STOPPED CRIME?".

It's in the garage, not on the truck.

After the Ohio CCW law passed, but before it became effective, my employer put up a bunch of those silly red circle/slash over a revolver signs.

Next day, I wore my Ruger T-Shirt with the BIG pic of the glossy stainless Vaquero, and shirt is worded "Vaquero The Cowboy's Choice".

They said nothing, but I got A BUNCH of funny looks from the Socialist Crowd.
