Carters Country on the Katy freeway, just outside the loop is a good start.

Fountain Firearms on Hwy 6, south of I-10 has a good selection.

American Shooting Center has a gun store attached for when you get the guns.

Bass Pro Shops in in the Katy Mills Mall.
Collectors Firearms is probably the best stocked in the City, but a little farther to drive.

More driving, but still on the North and West quadrant of town, there is Jim Pruett's Guns and Ammo.

There are a bunch of Academy's around town, they have revolvers, pistols, hunting rifles, shotguns and for now some AR stuff. Just not as wide a selection as the other specialty stores have.
We also have three or so Gander Mountains, one out 290.
Gun Show in Conroe this weekend, but that is a little bit of a ride from the Katy area, if you want to browse around. Just about 2 weekends of every month there is a show in the Houston area, and a lot of the same vendors frequent regularly. Not that hard to strike up a relationship with those guys.
Houston area has a lot of FFL's that are cheap to do business with. You can expect to pay between $20=$25 for the transfer if you mail order, or get your guns from an auction site. (Sorry to all you folks in CA, I know that is unbelievably cheap to you folks
)

Jim Pruett is one person I will not buy from...... I've been to his store a few times.....everytime him and his help are rude and arrogant.....my business goes elsewhere.....

There's a gunship south on hwy 59 , right on the hwy located I would guess about 50 N or Victoria. Anybody know anything about it?
