I have the choice of 2 gun shows this weekend, the Old Dominion Gun Show in Bealeton, VA and the Silverado show in Upper Marlboro, MD.

I've never bought anything at a gunshow, so I have a few questions:
As a Virginia resident, can I buy a gun at a MD show? Do I have to have it shipped to a FFL?

anything else I should know?

My travel time is the same to either show, can anyone offer opinions on which is a better bet?
if if helps, I'm looking for the GI model mil-spec Springfield Armory 1911

thanks!

Depends.

As long the as laws of either state don't prevent it, then yes. And yes, you would have to have it shipped to your FFL if it is a handgun.

Considering Md laws today, you may have a larger and cheaper selection at the Va show. A lot of Md posters have complained of late of their selections in gun stores.

I believe both responses are correct. However, Maryland's laws are so wacko these days, that I wouldn't even want to try to figure out if I could buy a firearm there. And do not depend on the dealers to know the laws. It used to be that you could buy a long gun in any of your neighboring states without having to go through an FFL, but who knows how it is in MD?

Echoing Majic's words: given the choices you have, IMO, there is no choice. The ODGS will most likely have a lot more handguns on display at lower prices.
