Gun Store Crowds

The largest gun store in northern Illinois has been crowded like a bar on St. Patrick's Day since last fall.

This weekend it was so crowded there was one parking place left. The place was jammed like Christmas at the malls.

And people were buying guns, not just looking around.

Every one of those new buyers in the gun stores and gun shows is a potential letter writer to their congress critters regarding potential gun laws.

I've watched AR15 prices at gun shows climb and backlogs at EVERY SINGLE AR15 vendor exceed 3 months production. These are not ALL current AR owners stocking up, there are lots of new buyers like in that mix. Literally thousands of new AR-15s are entering private hands every month, very few of which can be readily traced.

And the AR15 numbers I've been tracking are only a subset of this grassroots movement.

Even if the politicians don't notice this grassroots movement I expect (and hope) that this grassroots movement will notice the politicians.

Does anyone think that the large number of purchases will move new gun legislature from the back burner to the front?

I never considered it back burner to begin with. We have pretty much entered an area in politics where our politicians don't care what the people think. They are going to pass these laws as soon as they can.

.

I sold two autoloaders for great prices and bought a Beretta shotgun ...

Thanks for bringing up a bad memory for me. I passed on a nice Beretta
over-under a few years ago. It was a consignment and the shop wanted
$400 for it. To this day I kick myself for not buying it.

It seems to be affecting almost all categories of firearms' accessories too.

I went to Sportsman's Warehouse yesterday to look at some small pistol safes. They used to have close to a dozen different types and sizes, but yesterday, they only had two!
