Guns and ammo in short supply, not necessarily a bad thing

Well with all the shortages of guns and ammo it has allowed me to focus on an area I have been wanting to get caught up on for a long time. I have begun getting my optics where I want; so far added 3 sets of Leupold flip up Almumina caps for scopes I already had. I bought a nice gently used Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25x50mm scope for the FD308 I have been waiting on for 5 months and got it at a really good price. Bought a Leupold 4.5-14x40mm VX3 LR scope for one of my AR's and maybe next month one more VX3 4.5-14x40mm for the Stag model VI I have. Seems optics and mounts are still readily available and still at non panic prices so it only makes sense to concentrate on getting the glass upgrades I have been wanting.
Another area was the need for a laser on one of my pistols, I picked up a Viridian green laser for my Walther P-22 pretty cheap off Ebay. I have been waiting on several cans for months now and it will be nice to have a laser for the .22 whenever the BATF decides to let me have my stamps.
As you can see I have been quite busy emptying my bank account. So is anyone else doing the same thing and leaving all the guns, ammo and mags alone until this crazy stuff wears off? Optics is about all you can still get at a good deal right now!

I've been snapping up all the old Mauser sporters and ammunition for them that I can get my hands on. They've always been my number one passion, and the assault weapon boom has pushed both their price and desirability down. I've also been grabbing vintage optics (steel tube Weavers, Redfields, etc), and other parts here and there as I come across them.

Ammo supply has been a blessing for the non-mainstream types. I bought some 7x57 on sale the other day, and the box of .270 that I needed today was literally the only thing on the shelf at WalMart.

I don't understand the level this craze has gotten to, but there are places to put your money if you look smartly.

I agree, there are some really good deals to be had if you look in the right places; optics is one of them.
