Can anyone recommend a gunsmith in or near eastern AL? I live in Auburn. I have an old model Ruger Single Six, mid 70's vintage with a stuck trigger plunger. Without it, it's balky about finding the safety notch and the half cock notch unless I manipulate the trigger by hand. It's an old model, without all the later safety stuff added on and I'd like to keep it that way. Last resort, I would send it off to Ruger but only if I have too.

Thanks.

Ruger is not bad to work with, but it is not too hard a gun to repair yourself - you can get the schematic at Brownells.

Try Gary Jones at the gun shop in Geneva, Al. He has helped me in the past on oddball problems (extractor for Remington Nylon 76). Good man to know, in any case. Sorry, I don't know the phone #.

PS. I have a friend in Opelika who could possibly act as courier because his mother lives in Geneva. PM me if you need to talk.

I had the gun apart yesterday - actually a little more apart than first intended  but it turned out to be easy enough to reassemble. Brownells has a useful schematic but on their website it says the trigger plunger is not available. I could not find a way to access the plunger from the back nor get it to pop back out from the front. Most likely, the spring broke or it just got stuck.

Thanks for the recommendation of the guy in Geneva - I found
http://www.cliogunshop.com/ while web searching yesterday.

I'll send it to Ruger if it comes to that, but would prefer to keep it in the original condition.

Range Control in Columbus has gunsmith services. I have no dealings with it but have traded with them. They seem to be OK people.
