hello from Texas folks!!...i've been lurking around here for a bit and this seems like a great forum...heard about yall on the sigforum, where i spend an inordinate amount of my free time :p ...wanted to see if yall could give me some input on a purchase i'm looking at making:

i needed a carry gun and wanted to look at a polymer framed gun for weight reduction...i like the glocks and xds, but i don't like the fact that they are not available with the DA first shot trigger pull...i just don't feel too comfortable carrying with one in the hole in an xd or glock (but that is for another thread and is probably just mental for me)...i'm use to the sig DA/SA with the decocker and like that particular setup..

my brother has a usp tactical in .45acp and it has been a great gun for him, so i decided to look in to the HKs...now, on to the P2000...

i like the feel of this gun better than the slighlty chunkier usp compact...it has a more narrow slide and the grip feels more narrow...i also like the decocker better and the lack of a manual safety...just my personal preference, i guess...the P2000 felt better in my hand and i like the stippling bettter as it is adequate but not quite as rough as the USP...and the P2000 just feels more balanced to me...ssssooooo....

do any of the THR brethren have any experience or insight into this gun??...

i was also looking at the P239 (and have shot one in .40 S&W) and i liked the gun, but it holds 3 less rounds and doesn't quite feel as good as the P2000 does to me (i have gargantuan monkey hands )...also, i know the 239 has a proven track record, but something about that P2000 keeps calling me over to it...

so, i'm pretty sold on the P2000, but i just wanted to see if anyone here has one or has experience with one and what that experience is...the gun is WAY pricey, but if it is reliable, i'm willing to pay for it because i like everything else about it very much...

thanks for your input

Greetings fellow Texan. I have a P2000 9mm V3 and it is a nice gun. It is not however, in my opinion, as good of a gun as the Walther P99 is. If you haven't looked at the P99, you should seriously give it a look.

I also have a USP Compact 9mm. I would rank them like this:

- Walther P99
- Walther P99QA
- USP Compact 9mm V1
- P2000 V3

Just my opinion and I'm stickin' with it :D

Monkey hands! You made me laugh out loud!! Anyway, I have the P2000 in .40 DA/SA with decocker and it is extremely reliable just like all of the other H&Ks are...
Not only that but it is durable with light recoil and more accurate than I am but I will say I am more accurate with my P-01 than I am with the P2000. but more shooting should cure that problem... I've got around 500 rds through the P2000 with various ammo and its eat and spits out anything I feed it and it has never even given me the slightest hint of not wanting a perticular brand of ammo..

Break down is very easy and with those adjustable back straps to make the grip bigger and able to pull the trigger with gloves on it should be the perfect gun for your big hands.......drf

The HK P2000 is my everyday CCW. I have fired over 2000 rounds, never a jam or malfunction. It carries very well and yes, is slightly larger than the HK Compact. However, when compared to most Sig options, the HK comes out on top size, weight, and spec. wise. It also has smoother lines for a CCW than most other similar options available.

The gun is very well made and the double action is excellent. It has a long smooth trigger pull which will take a little getting used to, but once you do, you'll see why so many others like myself really like this weapon.

thanks for the input fellas...one thing that seesm very inadequate about the gun is the frame/slide rails...2 tiny little metal rails...but i've never heard of any problems with the durability of these, so i'm not worried....i'm just used to my sig p220st that has full length rails machined into the frame...
