I have an H&R Handi Rifle, 223 caliber, black synthetic stock, standard contour barrel. I bought it new last year for $270.00 OTD. I put a Tasco Target/Varmint 6-24x40mm scope on it that cost me $85.00. I have $355.00 invested in this rig.

It's a great rifle, very accurate, very reliable.

Okay, I'll give you accurate... but of course it's reliable; it's a single shot! :D

You missed an option, those who do not own one but think they are a good value, as I do.
It might be all we can hunt with if the big O's in charge. :uhoh:

Have used and owned several, good guns, good quality for the price, highly accurate. BUT, when in the field it is very difficult to capture the fired case when it is ejected, especially when a scope is mounted close over the breech. For that reason all my single shots are now extractor equipped or are bolt action side eject.

I own the shotgun version, love it. Want a Handi badly, will have one eventually, with barrels in .45-70, .30-30, & .22 Hornet. Maybe start with one in .22-250 and build from there, since they tend to go on sale often.

I voted shot but don't own, but I think they're more than OK.

i chose that ive shot one and i think theyre ok. because you didnt give the option that i want one i really like them. i have an uncle that hunts with one in .270 its very accurate and you cant beat a them for something cheap enough you dont mind hurting it in the brush and light enough you dont have a heart attack carrying it all day. everybody i know that has one loves it.

D.C.'s mayor wants to ban them, they have been declared a "machine gun"

Just kidding.

Remember, they're going to be lighter weight than your average rifle, and thus have more recoil for the same caliber.

Own one in 223, and will be sending it back for bbls in 357Mag, 44Mag, 30/30 and probably 308.

I think they offer excellent value.

I went through a handi phase. Eventually I got fed up over the hit or miss accuracy. All mine could shoot great one day and puke bullets at the target the next.

Sold em all went to Encores and found out they were no better.......But that's a story for another thread

I have a 308, a 30/30 HB and a 223 HB. I am very fond of them, and have excellent results shooting them offhand. Like the Encores (break actions with non-floated barrels) they are sensitive to forearm pressure and headspace/lockup gap between barrel breech and the frame breechface.

I am with NCSmitty I don't own one but think that I would like them. In all honesty the last couple weeks I have really wanted one.

I have three,.308,30-06,.243, I thought about the kick of the 06 so I weighted the rifle and found out it's almost 7lbs,must be the bull barrel, my 03A3 weights 7lbs.
