Hello folks-

I was wondering if anyone knows if NEF (or H&R?) is currently producing a .357 magnum Handi-Rifle? I've searched through google and gunbroker for a good while without much luck.

I've been hunting for a handy woods gun, and think that a single shot .357 mag would really fit the bill. Versatile, compact, lightweight... Since price is always a strong factor, the NEF is a front-runner.

Thanks,

Spooky

I do not know if they still have them, but someone at graybeards outdoors forums will know.they have a handirifle forum.

Thanks for the help, folks. After looking around it looks like the weight on these is still near 7 lbs, which is just more than I'm willing to pack for what should be a lightweight rifle. Coupled to probably having to order one from the factory, I doubt one of this is in my near future.

Thanks though!

You can only get one as a barrel accessory added to your existing handi rifle. They do not sell them ready made.
Yes they are heavy, I wish H&R made them as a lightweight small game gun.
I had one and it felt heavier than my 9 shot Marlin 1894C.

Marlin 1894c in .357 magnum weighs six pounds and, with an 18.5 inch barrel, is pretty compact.

I actually was looking for one when I found a Winchester 1894 in .357mag, still the most fun gun I have to shoot! Great in the woods, on my land for Yotes, or on the range for the fun of shooting! Love that cartridge in a long gun or wheeler.

The superlight really is, umm, superlight. And while not in .357 they are out now in 7.62x39, another handy, versatile and cheap to shoot way to go perhaps.

Thanks for the info Woof, but I've already romanticized the notion of this caliber in a long gun far too much to walk away from it...

I'll probably just have to hold out for a Marlin.
