Anyone have any suggestions, for the proper sequence for stripping and re-assembly of H&R DA/SA rimfire revolvers? Specifically 649, 650 and 676 models.

Yes do not do it just spray clean them. You will go nuts with all those piano wire size pins. the only reason to disassemble one of these is to replace a spring after it has broken.

I have a couple and love to shoot them BUT them little pins are a bugger to deal with.

Nothing is broken in the two that I have. They function fine. The 650 has the .22LR cylinder and the 676 has the .22 mag cylinder.

I was thinking of taking them apart, to check for burrs, rough places, etc. Slick up the trigger pull?

The cylinder on the 650 will turn counter clockwise, with the hammer down. I was thinking of filing the cylinder stop, so that it engaged the cylinder slots, a tad more. Maybe I should just shoot them?

Yes, that's exactly what you should do.

You should not take them apart, and you most definitely should not start filing & polishing parts.

They are what they are, and nothing you can do with a file will make them anything else.

I've got one in a cigar box somewhere that I made the mistake of taking apart 40 years ago. At least I think I have most of the parts. :uhoh: If you do it, you might want to go ahead and have a box handy to store the pieces in.

When these guns were assembled at the factory they had specially built jigs to assemble them. If they were assembling them like people do nowadays after taking them apart the labor costs would have forced them to charge three times what they were selling them for. Rule of thumb: any revolver that uses pins as opposed to screws is not made to be taken apart unless a part fails.

indeed it will teach the value of slave pins i just got done puting an h&r singleshot reciever back together man i love h&r singleshots but MAN it SUCKS putting them back together so if i were you i would leave them WELL alone..but that is just me..if you do through with it have a box or baggy close you will need it.
