I know asking any H&R questions are likely to get better replies by asking a magic 8 ball than on a forum, but it's always worth a shot.

I was looking thru Bill Goforth's H&R book after someone had mentioned that the Victors were cheaper versions of other H&R revolvers and I noticed an interesting thing. Goforth says that the .22 models of the Victor were chambered for the .22 Long Rifle, which is surprising to me because the Young America that I have is only chambered for .22 Long, not Long Rifle, however the Young America design dates back to the 1880s while the Victor's were designed in the 1910's.

So, what I'd like to know is has anyone owned an H&R Victor in .22 and can confirm it can shoot .22 Long RIfle?

I have a Victor in really nice condition. I put a .22 LR in the cylinder and the bullet sticks out the front of the cylinder about 1/8". A fellow who worked for H&R also said these shouldn't even be fired with modern .22 Shorts and advised using CBs. I shoot CCI CB Shorts out of mine.

.22 LR sticks out the front of my Young America as well, so unfortunately Goforth's book is wrong about the .22 Victors.

.22 Long is very mild from the Y. America/Victor and I bet just as much in price as CB Shorts are, so you may want to give them a try. I shoot full power .22 Shorts because they're the cheapest and I don't shoot it enough to matter.
