Had a rude conversation with ATF today

Yeah, Gezzer is correct. They hire a lot of developmentally disabled folks to help out. I don't mean the agents who act developmentally disabled .. I mean real developmentally disabled people.

I like to:
1) Print my own paperwork (looks neater)
2) Print my own passport photos (they turn out better)
3) Use a personal check (can watch for it to clear)
4) Use certified mail (can watch for it to arrive)

Which is why we never see any complaints on here about gun shop employees or WalMart employees, or airline employees.

Thank the gods for private enterprise....

Amen to that.....Brings to mind my state's department of motor vehicles. Over the years they have moved more and more from public service towards public dominance.....With private enterprise if you don't like the service you can do business with a competitor and if you don't like the price you can do the same. Those businesses that satisfy us stay around. Those that don't get their act together or they go under. This is why it is the best system in the world as proven by history. In contrast, when you deal with government (a monopoly by nature) if you don't like their service or their price what are you going to do about it? The answer is nothing. You are their customer whether you are satisfied or not. This explains why there is no motivation for government agencies to be courteous and respectfull, let alone competent and efficient. Our founders knew this which is why they looked at government as a necessary evil that should be kept to a minimum and on a short leash. Unfortunately, we have not done a good job as citizens keeping it small and well controlled.

Wish our tax dollars, which pay her salary bought a little nicer service

IMHO look at the bright side , this lady shows up at a time and a place to collect that check , many go once a month to the post office . No matter who they are they get credit for even going to work nowdays lol .

You have to love the idiocy of some unskilled workers. This plays out like some type of Monty Python skit:

Caller : "The forms I need are currently on backorder. can you tell me when they will be mailed out"

Operator: Hold on Sir while I check... ah Sir, those forms are currently on backorder.

Caller: Yes, I know. I just told you that. Do you know when they will be mailed out?

Operator: Hold on Sir while I check... ah Sir, those forms will be mailed to you when they come in.

Caller: Yes... I know this. Do you know WHEN this will be.

Operator: Hold on Sir while I check... ah Sir. it appears as though it should be some time in the near future.

Caller: Yes... as opposed to the past? Well, can you tell me how long in the future that should be?

Operator: Hold on Sir while I check... ah Sir, it appears as though it should be "as soon as possible."

Caller: Yes... and can you narrow this down a bit?

Operator: Hold on Sir while I check... ah Sir, sorry, I really don't know. "Anything is possible."

Caller: Thanks, I guess...

Operator: Your welcome Sir. Can I be of any further help?

Caller... 'CLICK'

Think the BATFE is bad?
Try sorting out an IRS paper audit by calling the low level flunkies they have answering the phone. The person I talked to was not only not helpful, but was more than annoyed, actually bordering on rabidly angry that I called them away from something more important- maybe painting their toenails or eating a donut.

Sorry, I no longer have the faith or belief in the unfettered forces of the free market I once did. Too many scum CEOs, Presidents, VPs and Board Memebers out walking the streets these days instead of being in a Federal Pen where they belong.

Too many Business scumbags who don't give two craps about America, Americans, or American jobs. The words Traitors and Treason come to mind.

Gee, you just described every career politician out there as well. ;)
