... I finally shot my first IPSC match :)

Of course I sucked badly. Had lots of fun though and met a whole bunch of cool folks.

I had to realize again that there's a whole big difference between training and match... adrenaline and spectators really add something :) I screwed up three to four stages out of eight but it was a blast anyway. I learned a lot from it and will try to attend as many matches as possible from now on.

These are the lessons that I learned yesterday:

- it's a good idea to take along enough magazines - preferably at least one more than you think you might need if you really really screw up

- if you never had a mag falling out again because it wasn't seated properly it will inevitably happen on that stage where you need every single mag on your belt ;)

- if you hear a "TING!" it doesn't necessarily mean that the steel is going to fall :)

- I hate reshoots... especially on a stage that involves poppers at 50 yd. and a sprint over the same distance

But hey, at least I didn't get DQ'ed :D

You will never stop learning

Each match will teach you something to remember in the future, and each match will get a litttle easier..the first one is NEVER forgotten.:)

My theory is that the buzzer is like the "flashy thing" from the Men In Black movie. You can go over and over your game plan for the course, and then "beep". *POOF* goes your short term memory :)

Sounds like you had fun though, great! Just focus on being safe, doing it right and having fun. Speed will come later. Smooth is fast.

I was instantly and hopelessly hooked too. There wasn't anything I could do but plan the next match.

I have gotten 'decent' but there is a long way to go if I ever want to win anything....
