I inherited a Model 27 C.J. Hamilton rifle. I know the history of these rifles, and have restored it as much as I can, but I'm missing the small forearm. Short of fabricating one myself, does anyone have a lead on a source for that spare part. I've search several sites but all the ones likely to have the part are out of stock (i.e., Numerick, etc.). Ebay had one posted awhile back, but the bid price got way to high.

Just to go outside the box, there are more then a number of worn Hamiltons 27s out on Gun broker.. that sell pretty cheap and would just love to be an organ donor...

Pretty cheap ? $175 - $300. If anyone had a forestock on the web, it could possibly be under that price. I did a 'very' extensive search (at least 2 hours), without any hits. If you intend to shoot it, Don't ! If you intend to display it, do it without the forearm, post an original ad pic next to it in your display. Then you will have a real life example of good times gone by.

Thanks unklebuck. I don't intend to shoot it. It has a rifled brass insert in the barrel that I certainly don't trust. I'll keep looking for a forearm.

If you must shoot it, use only standard velocity .22 ammunition - the brass barrel liner is not so much the problem as the overall weak design of the breech mechanism...

There are all kinds of lower velocity 22s out there now that one can use.
