hammer bounces on my Security Six

hey all!

I got a question about my security six. A problem it has always had is the hammer bounces when it hits the firing pin. My other gun doesn't do this(6 inch sec. six) but my 4 inch model does. The 4 inch version seems to have a better trigger as well. Any hints?

Is it something that needs to be fixed?

I'll answer your question with one: Did you buy this gun new or used? If it was used I suspect a former owner did a "homesmith" trigger pull job and either cut the mainspring or substituted a weaker one. I suggest that you remove the grips from both of your revolvers and compare the mainsprings. Thereafter you may have the answer.

If this is not the case the next most likely answer is that the mainspring strut in the 4-inch gun is bent or otherwise defective.
